Welcome to the 5th Edition of the Pinspiration Project Link Up. My entry in the project this week is a reportedly awesome cleaner. But before we get to that … allow me to introduce the Pinspiration Project.
There is a page (linked at the top of this website) where you can find the button code for this link up as well as the images for the 0 – 5 Pins rating system. Feel free to find a Pinterest Project (recipe, craft, or etc.), create it, write about it on your blog, and link it up below. Looking forward to reading about the Pinspiration that you choose to share.
My tub, of which I am NOT going to post photos, seriously needs to be resealed … or replaced! The bottom and sides have some major gray streaks. I had seen people talking on Facebook about an amazing cleaner they had discovered via Pinterest so I asked Shana about it and she and Julie both told me that it was Dawn and Vinegar in equal parts. Here’s a pin and link with more details:
See Jillee’s post here. I didn’t have an empty spray bottle handy and I figured my tub was going to require more than a little of the miracle product anyway so I just pulled a 4 cup Pyrex measuring cup out of the cabinet and mixed up a cup of Dawn Dish Soap and a cup of white vinegar. Then I carried the smelly concoction into the bathroom, plugged the tub, and poured the liquid on the stains as best I could. Then I spread the cleaner that collected in the bottom of the tub back up the sides with a cloth. I walked away and allowed it to sit, and work it’s magic, for about an hour. The results? Nil! Nada! Nothing!
Now I am going to have to admit that I did NOT follow the directions (spray bottle) and perhaps this would have been a case of less is more? Mostly though I think that what I am dealing with is not simple soap scum. The tub is still gross! I will try this recipe again when I have a spray bottle handy but for now? I’m giving it …

My favorite bathroom cleaner that I make is vinegar and baking soda! Doesn’t make my ancient tub perfect but the foaming from the two mixing together and the paste it comes to because of the baking soda. Love it!
Won’t waste my time with this one. Especially since our tubs probably look much the same!

My brother did a volcano science experiment with that combo when I was a kid. =) May have to try it on the tub.

I made this for Jason- he is my designated shower cleaner, anyway my “recipe” did call for the squirt bottle & warm vinegar. It worked pretty well. I also saw a trick to keep it in in a dish scrubber in the stall. May have to try that.
Like I said … I will try it again. I just honestly think that the tub needs to be resealed. May have to price that some time soon!

I’ve had some Pinterest duds, too, though thankfully not too many. I have a whole board full of home remedies I haven’t tried yet…
I’ll have to check that out. Everyone was so gung ho over this one that I was surprised that it bombed. Oh well. … Thanks for dropping by!
